Fashion week is on the tip of my tongue and yet there it remains, as I continue my globe-trotting escapades this month into the land of milk and honey (where the people are beautiful but appear to still be living in the early and somewhat unfortunate 1990s). Still, for those of you after some cheap thrills in the form of a brisk and incomprehensive update, continue to read for an appetizer of this month’s fashion below.

Girl-wise, Milagros in New York was hitting every note (now also sporting a more glamour-girl, blonder cut), while Missy Rayder’s old school appeal was also popping up in all the right places. Emma Balfour (Elite) made a brief reappearance on the New York runway, featuring in Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang, as well as the Pac-Man infused Giles Deacon collection in London, which combined a mild flirtation of the whimsical with classical shapes in tangs of sharp lemon & bubblegum pink.

Some of the more traditional highlights included:

[Spring/Summer 09: Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Rag & Bone]

To top it all off, Australian Abbey Lee Kershaw features this month in a rather spectuacular Dazed & Confused collaboration between Garath Pugh and photographer Nick Knight; see left/right for temptation, buy in stores now.

The work of Stephanie Chen keeps me keenly engaged and enertained. From her impeccible sense in typography, to the quietly fascinating exhibitions she curates, everything is like good design measured in spades.  Do drop by, sometime.
